Does it seem like you are constantly correcting your child or teen? It can be really tough to have a fun relationship with your kids if it’s often negative. A great way to change that is to recognize and celebrate your child’s strengths!
Recognizing your child’s strengths allows you to understand their abilities. You’ll start to see where their talents lie. You can guide them towards activities that match their abilities.
Celebrating your child’s strengths promotes a healthy self-image. Whether big or small, when you celebrate them you instill a sense of pride. This positive reinforcement encourages them to continue pursuing their passions.
Focusing on what your child does well and celebrating it builds their confidence and self worth! It also makes them more willing to try difficult tasks and to take chances in new situations. It increases their resilience and determination.
Since it is sometimes hard to focus on their strengths, Dr. Kim Grengs and I put together this short video with some great ideas to get you started.
